About Lindsey
I am a 20-something newlywed who moved to the Richmond area in August 2011.
I married Matt, a medical student, in September 2011. Sou chef, speed kitchen cleaner, and taste tester extraordinaire, cooking for my husband makes every second in the kitchen worth it! (Plus, it really helps that he loves everything I make, even when it's terrible). We live in a little townhouse on the edge of the city, with our neurotic cat, Sara.
I am a physician assistant and I specialize in pulmonary medicine. Being medically trained has certainly had an influence on the foods I eat and the changes I make to recipes. I often try to sneak whole grains, olive oil, and extra vegetables into recipes while cutting out as much fat and calories whenever I can.
But everything in moderation - I believe life is above all, meant to be enjoyed! Matt and I love good desserts and rich cheeses. We are both oenophiles and love the art of pairing wine with...anything!
I have no culinary training beyond what my mom taught me growing up. I credit her with teaching me the basics and showing me how to make daily cooking work. I can't wait to share some of her recipes with you!
The sources of my recipes come from a variety of cookbooks, friends/family, cooking magazines and websites, and anything that inspires me. I'll rip recipes out of magazines while waiting to have my oil changed and make it that night. Most of the recipes I try every week are new, though I couldn't live without my tried and true favorites. I also love to cook foods that compliment the seasons with fall being the one I love the most.
I consider myself to be a novice cook. I am still learning my way around the kitchen , especially in regards to baking with which I continue to struggle. But, there is nothing like the "I can't believe I made this" moment to keep you motivated to keep trying!
